Below is a brief I wrote for my Intro to Media Writing class. It was taken from a public record out of the Williston City Commission meeting minutes from a meeting on September 25, 2012. Again...this is a little out of date, but based on real events.
A request to approve an ordinance that would prohibit mobile food vendors from operating within the city, was brought to the City Commission at the last meeting on September 25th.
The request was to add Section 25 Q Mobile Food Vendors and Portable Carry Out Food and Beverage Kiosks to the Williston Zoning Ordinance to regulate mobile food vendors within the City of Williston.
The ordinance would only allow mobile food vendors to operate in the city at city-sponsored functions to which mobile food vendors are invited. The ordinance allows coffee kiosks subject to regulations regarding location, access to utilities, rest rooms and fees.
The first reading of the ordinance (Ordinance 958) was unanimously approved.
The next City Commission meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 2nd.
